Therapeutic Models

PACE
We base our approach on the methodology of DDP, PACE and play. The staff at Palesa House practise the PACE model to promote positive behaviour with the young people in our care. PACE focuses on the whole Young Person, not simply the behaviour, and focuses on building trusting relationships, emotional connections, containment of emotions and a sense of security.

The premise of PACE helps young people to feel more secure with adult caregivers and reflect upon themselves, their thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, building the skills that are necessary for maintaining a successful and satisfying life. PACE therapeutic caregiving is a model of care which helps support and form secure attachments with young people who may have experienced difficulties in early life.

The STEP framework
This framework aims to be Sensory Supportive, Totally Inclusive and Enabling to facilitate personal positive Progression. The STEP framework recognises and encompasses four key domains: social, educational, emotional and psychological, within three specific phases that each child will go through.
